We now also offer Colorado Wine Country Tours! This day trip from Crested Butte to Paonia is a great way to see the beautiful wineries that are right out our back door! With this tour, you typically leave Crested Butte at 10:00am and arrive back in CB at approx. 6:00pm. Stop for lunch, shop at local orchards and visit 3-6 wineries that all provide affordable tastings. All trips are customizable to your group needs. We offer this trip in one of our 14 passenger transit vans. We will offer this day trip for the month of June and again in the fall. More about Crested Butte to Aspen hike... The West Maroon Trailhead is located 13 miles outside of Crested Butte, approx. a 40 minute drive (4x4 SUV highly recommended if you have to drive, parking is very limited). The hike is 10.5 miles one-way and takes 6 hours on average, keep in mind that you are only as fast as your slowest hiker!
 
Dogs are allowed but must be leashed. If you are bringing your dog, you must also reserve a seat for it in the van. Our shuttles book up quickly, especially on weekends. We have a limited number of vans so please book early to ensure a seat. We recommend getting going as early as possible to avoid afternoon thunderstorms. 
 
Later in the summer you will see amazing wildflowers and in the fall you can enjoy the Aspen trees changing colors. Depending on the previous winter's snowfall, the trail typically becomes passable in late June to mid-July.
 
If you are hiking from Aspen to CB, we suggest you get going early by finding a local, contacting Blazing Adventures or a hotel shuttle to the trailhead. We do NOT recommend that you wait for the Maroon Bells shuttle bus to start. At the end of your hike, Dolly's will meet you at the West Maroon Trailhead and take you into Crested Butte. You may also arrange for a ride back to Aspen. 

If you are hiking from CB to Aspen, you will need to make sure you have reservations from the Maroon Bells Scenic Area to Aspen Highlands. This was new in 2021. Please see below for more information. Dolly's will take you to the West Maroon trailhead early in the morning and you may also arrange for a ride back to Crested Butte if you do not wish to hike both ways.
